Frequently asked questions

  • What kind of events do you service?  All kinds. Both public and private events and venues. Weddings, Corporate Events, Mardi Gras Balls, Birthday Parties, Proms, Fraternity Formals, Casinos, Clubs, Restaurants.

  • How long has the band been around?   Since 2006.

  • Payments accepted? Online ACH Transfers, Credit Card (with fee), Checks, Money Orders, and Cash.

  • What is the size of your band?  The full band is 9 musicians plus a sound engineer, lighting technician, and stage hand/DJ. On very limited occasions, we are able to reduce the size of the band to 6 musicians.

  • What music genre does your band play?  A little bit of everything and we take requests. Pop/Top 40, 40s to the 90s, Motown, R&B, Rock, Soul, Funk, Jazz, Big Band, Cajun, New Orleans Jazz, etc.

  • Do you have liability insurance?  No. Most bands do not have this. However, you can purchase insurance for one day through a provider if your venue requires this.

  • What is Rewind's dress/attire for events?  Formal attire for most events (suits, dress shirts/pants, neck ties, etc.). If the event is casual, the band will dress accordingly.

  • Do you have live video?  Yes, please visit this link.  Click here

  • Can I book the band to perform at public venues such as Casinos, restaurants, clubs, etc.?  Yes, if you are looking to book public entertainment at a Casino, restaurant, etc. please contact us for pricing.

  • Are you willing to learn new songs that you currently don't play?  Yes, one song per event.  As long the song requested is approved by the band leader. In some cases, we may need to charge a nominal fee to learn a new song depending on the song. Also, any songs the band is unable to learn can be played via iPod during the event through our sound system.  Email us your song request and we'll let you know if it's something the band can learn or not. Please note: 3 months advanced notice is required in order for new song requests to be considered.

  • How do I send you the details of my wedding reception, my song requests, and iPod requests?   We have an information form that you will complete so you can list out the songs you have chosen for your first dance, father/daughter dance, break music, etc.  We will send this form to you when you book. Everything the band needs to know to prepare for your special day will be provided by this form.  This makes it easy for our clients and the band to all be on the same page.   The form can be completed online or in a Word document, which we will send you.

  • Do I need to provide my own iPod for special songs the band doesn't play?  No. We will download all of the songs, or ask that you email them to us and we will play them through our system for you. No need to bring your own iPod/CD.

  • How much time do you usually need for setup?  2 hours for local/Baton Rouge events. 3 hours for New Orleans or out of town events is preferred. The band can set up within 1.5 hours if necessary. The more time the band has to do a thorough sound check prior to guests arriving, the better.  We are flexible though; contact us if you need the band to set-up more quickly and we'll see if we can work something out.

  • How much stage space does the band require?  Preferred stage area is 24X16. However, the full 8 piece band can fit in extremely tiny venues. Minimum (approximate) stage size: 10X10. Contact us if you are concerned about the amount of space available for the band at your venue.  We've never had an issue fitting into venues that say the band has to be smaller than 8 pieces.  Often the venues don't realize the logistics of the band enough to understand that we can adjust in order to fit...and we can keep the volume very low in small venues as well.
    • Please do not let the size of the band deter you if you are using a small venue. Our horn section and vocalists only take up standing space (4 musicians total), which means they hardly take up any space.  The other 4 musicians take up the most space, which means that the band needs about the same amount of space as most 4 to 5 piece bands.

  • My event is at a small venue (like Latrobe's in New Orleans), will the band fit? Will the band be too loud?  We can fit the full band in small venues. No, the band, including the horns, will not be too loud. We have a sound engineer that monitors volume. Our musicians also know to play softer in smaller venues as well.

  • Do I need to rent a stage/platform for the band?  No, as long as the band has a solid, leveled surface to perform on, a stage is not necessary. We can set up on the floor.  However, stages are preferred for outdoor events, since the band cannot set up directly in the grass, gravel, or on hills/slopes, etc.

  • Do you have a sign or banner that you use at events?  Yes, we have an LED Rewind sign that we use as part of our stage lighting.  By special request, we will not hang the sign.

  • Is a sound system and/or PA equipment provided?  Yes. We are completely self-contained and have all of the equipment we need to perform.                  For extremely large rooms like the New Orleans Convention Center that can hold over 800 people, for example, an additional charge may be required.  Contact us with any questions you may have.

  • Is stage lighting provided?   Yes, standard stage lighting is provided. If you need big production lighting, please contact us.

  • Do you make announcements/emcee at the event and interact with the audience? Yes. We are all about crowd interaction. We will also make any announcements as needed throughout your event.

  • How do you get the crowd moving if no one is dancing?  We change the style and/or tempo of music being played, talk to the crowd, etc. Some crowds take longer to warm up than others, but we always get them going.

  • What is your policy on taking breaks?  For a 2 hour event, we do not take any breaks. For a 3 hour event, we usually take 1 break (approximately 15-20 minutes long). For 4 hour events, we usually take 2 breaks (approximately 15-20 minutes each).

  • Do you play recorded music during your breaks?  Yes. We give you the option of selecting all of the break music you would like to hear during the breaks. We download/play your selections at no additional charge.  OR we can select the music for you if you don't want to worry about this.

  • Do I need to provide a meal and drinks for the band?  Yes, for all private events a meal is required. The meal you decide to provide is at your discretion. Water is good for the drinks.  Because of the length of time it takes the band to travel, set-up, perform, etc., this leaves little or no time for the band to get something to eat, which is the reason for this requirement.  If you have any specific questions or concerns regarding this, please let us know.

  • Do I need to meet with someone from the band in order to book the group?  No, all of our booking is done quickly and easily online via email and mail.

  • If one or more of the band members is unable to attend, what is your backup plan?  It is very unlikely that this would ever happen. If it were to happen, then Rewind would hire a comparable or better musician to fill-in for the missing musician(s). Rewind has a large network of great musicians to serve as back-ups in case a problem like this arises.

  • What is your overtime rate?  The rate is usually pro-rated per half hour.

  • What is the maximum amount of time we can book the band for? 4 hours is the maximum amount of time the band can perform for any given event.

  • Do you charge for travel expenses?  Out-of-town shows (i.e. over 1 hour drive from Baton Rouge) do cost more due to gas prices, hotel room fees, etc. When you request a price quote, you will receive a quote for the full cost to you, including travel expenses. Contact us for more info.

  • What is the required to book my date?  What is the deposit amount?   A 50% deposit is required.  We require that all of our clients sign our standard contract as part of the booking agreement as well. The contract is sent to you by email for your review and signature. Once it's signed, you'll mail the contract and deposit to us.  We will hold the date for 10 days to give you time to return everything to us.  Note:  Deposits are non-refundable, which is standard in the music industry.

  • When is the final payment/balance due?   The balance is due to us by mail at least two week prior to your event date.

  • Do you offer ceremony music?  Yes.  We offer both live and recorded music options. Our ceremony music rates are discounted when you book Rewind for your event.

  • Do you offer a jazz band for a cocktail hour or sit down dinner?  Yes.  We offer Jazz bands (2 to 5 pieces).  Instrumental music only (no vocals).  Contact us for pricing/package options.   Rewind is also able to play Jazz music from the stage during your reception at no additional cost, as long as your cocktail hour/dinner is held in the same room as the reception.

  • Do you offer a Second Line Brass Band to parade/march with my guests?  Yes. We offer a Second Line Brass Band that can parade with you and your guests. The Brass Band rates are discounted when you book Rewind for your event.  Contact us for pricing.

  • Do you offer packages including all of your services:  Rewind Band, ceremony music, a Jazz band, AND the Second Line Brass Band for the same event?  Yes, we can do all 4 services for one event. We do this quite often.  And when you book Rewind for your event, you get any or all of our additional services at discounted rates.  It's a one-stop-shop for all of your music needs.

  • I need a microphone and speaker for my ceremony, do you offer this service?  Yes.  We can set-up a microphone or two for your ceremony for the minister/readers to use.

  • Can you DJ if we want music playing before or after the band performs?  Yes.  If you need more music, we provide DJ services. We typically play DJ/recorded music before the band starts performing at no extra cost.  If you need music after the band is done performing, we offer this service for an additional fee as well. Contact us for rates.
